Why Businesses Need Their Own Container
Residents have a county drop-off and businesses do not. The county's transfer-station brochure says the Mid-County Mini-Transfer Facility at 19765 Kenilworth Blvd. serves residents with proof of county residency and does not accept commercial or business waste. The Charlotte County Landfill takes construction and demolition loads from haulers at its gate, but a dumpster saves you the trailer, the trips and the wait at the scale. We deliver the box to your site.
Multi-Unit Buildings in Port Charlotte
Most of Port Charlotte is single-family housing, but larger buildings exist. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey (2020-2024, table S2504) counts 1,395 occupied homes in buildings with 10 or more apartments, about 5% of the 27,888 occupied homes. Each turnover or renovation in those buildings puts furniture, flooring and fixtures in one place at once, and a 30-yard handles a floor of units while a 40-yard handles a full renovation.
Which Size Fits a Commercial Project
Weight figures are Dropcurb's national numbers, and box dimensions are CustomTruck's outside measurements.
| Project | Size | Outside dimensions | Weight usually included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unit turnover, small build-out | 20 yard | 22 x 8 x 4 ft | 2 to 3 tons |
| Several units, retail build-out | 30 yard | 22 x 8 x 6 ft | 3 to 5 tons |
| Commercial roof, full renovation | 40 yard | 22 x 8 x 8 ft | 4 to 6 tons |
CustomTruck places commercial construction and new home builds with the 30-yard and commercial roofing with the 40-yard.
What Businesses Must Keep Out
The landfill's page sets a stricter rule for businesses than for homes. It says businesses must use a hazardous waste hauler for fluorescent bulbs, mercury devices and EPA-listed hazardous waste, and a bio-medical hauler for medical waste, while households can use the county's mini-transfer facilities for the same items. We tell you what to set aside before the container arrives.
Commercial Dumpster Cost
Dropcurb (April 2026) puts national rentals at $294 to $480 on average and commercial sizes at $400 to $900 or more for a week, with overage at about $50 to $150 per extra ton. Those are national figures, not Port Charlotte quotes. The Charlotte County Landfill charges $49.88 per ton for county waste. We write the size, the allowance and the overage rate down before delivery.
